Hypocrisy - the fish stinks from the head down

Recently, President Obama has taken to accusing others of representing "special interests." In an April radio address he stated that his financial regulatory proposals were struggling in the Senate because "the financial industry and its powerful lobby have opposed modest safeguards against the kinds of reckless risks and bad practices that led to this very crisis."

He should know. As a senator, he was the third largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, behind only Sens. Chris Dodd and John Kerry.

End of an Era for America ?

(or Look Through the Looking Glass Alice )

Tea Party

The issues that motivate the Tea Party movement are taxes, spending and the size and scope of government. Yet polling finds that 71% of voters want spending cuts, 66% feel taxes are too high and 63% want smaller government. The Tea Party and conservative values of liberty and limited government are not a “fringe movement.”

Big Government

Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. H.R. 2454, the "Cap & Trade" bill passed by the House of Representatives, if it is also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.

This Democrat president and this Democrat Congress have already passed more than two-dozen tax increases totaling nearly $700 billion, and they are planning even more, including massive cap and trade energy taxes and Nancy Pelosi’s VAT tax.

National Day of Prayer

President Obama, canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the rouse of "not wanting to offend anyone". On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7 pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. There were over 50,000 Muslims that day in DC. I guess it doesn't matter if "Christians" are offended by this event - we obviously don't count as "anyone" anymore.

Middle East

Joel Rosenberg said that he expects an attack on Iran by August. They have no choice. As we have discussed with you, this will trigger off the sleeper cells in the U.S. Do you remember that we told you we had seen actual video of the 35 terrorist training camps in the U.S. One is very close to Colorado Springs. The authorities know about these camps and do nothing.

Everything that the Obama Administration has done in the Middle East has been a failure. Since taking office, Obama has reached out to Iran repeatedly with an “open hand,” and every time the Iranian response has been a clenched fist. They have accelerated their nuclear program, which threatens U.S. troops, the free flow of oil, Israel and other allies in the region.

Obama’s next great idea was to reach out to Syria to entice Damascus away from Iran and Hezbollah. Failure again. Syria recently held a summit with Ahmadinejad and Hezbollah in which they pledged “solidarity” in the struggle against the U.S. and Israel.

Now there are credible reports that Syria may have transferred scud missiles with a range of 430 miles to the jihadists in Hezbollah. If true, the missiles put Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the Israeli nuclear reactor at Dimona all within range.

The administration condemns Jewish homes in Jerusalem neighborhoods, but is silent on scuds in the hands of Hezbollah. Unbelievably, when informed of this development, the State Department expressed concern for Lebanon, not Israel. Spokesman Philip Crowley said, “If such an action has been taken, and we continue to analyze this issue, clearly it potentially puts Lebanon at significant risk.”

Obama’s third great idea has been to curry favor with Middle East thugs by diplomatically pummeling Israel. There is no evidence that these thugs can be satiated by anything other than the destruction of Israel. Meanwhile, the Israeli public is feeling betrayed by the White House, and the Palestinians have no reason to come to the peace table as long as the Obama Administration is demanding more Israeli concessions even before negotiations begin.

The Culture

I lost my Focus on the Family - When did they decide to become accepted and well-liked rather than standing for righteousness

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

I have a problem with that: I think Humpty Dumpty was pushed!

Dr. James Dobson is one of the most loving, committed Christian men I have ever met. I love him with all my heart, am committed to him and would take a bullet for him.

He is too gracious to ask the question, but someone has to, so I will: Why is he off the air at Focus on the Family when he and his son are starting their own radio program elsewhere so he can remain on the air?

The infusion of biblical truth into the culture over the years by Focus on the Family has been a miraculous movement of God, and all at the hands of Dr. James and Shirley Dobson.

What is this new Focus on the Family? There is a tendency after many years of success for new blood and new minds to come in with a new plan. (I've always thought: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!) Just because something sounds new and elegant does not guarantee it will be better.

The current emphasis at Focus is on being loved and understood. I have read the entire Bible from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21 – and while it says, "The truth shall set you free," nowhere does it say, "Sensitivity shall set you free." What set the Focus board free to take Dr. Dobson off the air?

I am not very happy with the new, progressive, "loving" leadership at Focus on the Family. However, it is God's ministry, and He will do with it what He pleases.

While I don't work for Focus, I definitely have an opinion. God used Dr. James Dobson as its founder to change the world's view of the family. Taking him off the air effective this month was not Dr. Dobson's decision but a board decision. Why was that decision made? What prayerful consideration did the board engage in that ended with their choice to remove Dr. Dobson from the air? Evidently, he didn't want to stop his voice from being heard over the airways after turning over leadership to the new team. The new radio program he is launching tells me that.

It was, after all, the James Dobson radio program, not the Focus on the Family radio program. This board will regret its decision not to honor the founder of the ministry that God ordained. I have already had many tell me where their support will go. If the board members have any guts at all, they will get this man back on the Focus radio program.

I think the board has been misled and made a very unwise decision. One thing is for sure, in his humility, Dr. Dobson only wants to continue to speak the truth on the radio. Apparently, that truth has limited appeal to the new leadership at Focus.

What was in the mind of the current Focus president when this decision was made? He certainly was part of the process. We are called to be the salt of the earth, a beacon, and we are warned not to hide our light under a bushel. Focus on the Family's light is not only under a bushel, it's under a cloud.

The leadership had better wake up. They have made a serious mistake and they need to correct it.
